The Guma Valley Water Company and its partners BAM and IMC working under the Freetown Water Supply Rehabilitation Project funded by UKAID has completed the replacement of the aged 22 inches pipe line that runs over the Kaningo river at the Old Juba Bridge.
The 22 inches pipe line which was laid in the late 1960s had become very problematic over the past five years and was bursting up on average 2 times every Quarter due to old age and other human activities.
The pipe line was scoped under the Freetown Water Supply Rehabilitation Project to be completely replaced; however, the pipe was accidentally damaged on 26th April, 2022 as mobilization at the site was ongoing to replace it.
The task to replace the pipe line was finally completed on Thursday 12th May, 2022 after 336 hours of arduous work.
